The Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) has reaffirmed Togo’s growing importance as a strategic investment and trade gateway for West Africa following a high-level meeting between CCA President and Chief Executive Officer, Florizelle Liser, and H.E. President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé in Lomé.
The discussions focused on strengthening U.S.-Africa commercial relations, expanding investment opportunities, and enhancing Togo’s role as a preferred destination for international business.
Speaking after the meeting, Florizelle Liser highlighted Togo’s competitive advantages, including its strategic geographic location, modern deep-water port, improving business environment, and commitment to economic reforms.
“We view Togo as a strategic investment hub for the West African region. The country has several advantages that make it a natural gateway to West Africa. We believe there are significant opportunities to strengthen trade,” Liser said.
She noted that Togo’s continued efforts to improve the investment climate and deepen regional integration have strengthened investor confidence and created new opportunities for partnerships between American and African businesses. These reforms are expected to further position Togo as a key platform for regional trade, manufacturing, logistics, and value-added investment.
The meeting also included discussions on preparations for the 2026 U.S.-Africa Business Summit, which will be held in December 2026 in Mauritius. The summit is expected to convene African Heads of State, senior U.S. and African government officials, investors, business leaders, and development partners to advance trade, investment, and private sector collaboration across the continent.
The Corporate Council on Africa’s recognition of Togo’s strategic importance reinforces the country’s growing reputation as one of West Africa’s most attractive investment destinations and underscores the expanding opportunities for deeper U.S.-Togo economic engagement.
As the leading platform dedicated to promoting bilateral trade and investment between the United States and Togo, the American Chamber of Commerce in Togo (AmCham-Togo) remains committed to fostering business partnerships, facilitating market access, and supporting initiatives that strengthen commercial ties between the two countries. AmCham-Togo looks forward to working closely with the Corporate Council on Africa, government institutions, and private sector stakeholders to unlock new investment opportunities and advance sustainable economic growth.
